POLYMEM SILVER DRESSING 10.8X10.8 (15)

PolyMem Silver dressings are composed of a hydrophilic polyurethane membrane matrix. Apart from PolyWic, they have a semi-permeable polyurethane continuous thin film backing which is optimised for oxygen and moisture vapour permeability and as a barrier to liquids. They are the only dressings which contain 1) a safe, nontoxic cleanser (F-68 surfactant), 2) a moisturiser (glycerol, also known as glycerine), 3) an absorbing agent (superabsorbent starch copolymer), and 4) silver, all in the polyurethane matrix. Both F-68 and glycerol are soluble in wound fluid or skin moisture. The superabsorbent starch copolymer draws wound fluid, which is known to contain natural growth factors and nutrients, to the wound site. The silver protects the dressings from microbial contamination.
